Community Cats (Trap, Neuter, Return)

The Floyd County Animal Rescue League (FCARL) is committed to providing humane, long-term solutions for managing outdoor cat populations through its Community Cats (Trap, Neuter, Return) program. Commonly known as TNR, this nationally recognized approach helps reduce the number of free-roaming cats while improving their health and quality of life.

Community cats—often called feral or free-roaming cats—are humanely trapped, transported to a participating veterinarian to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated against rabies, and ear-tipped for easy identification. Once they have recovered, the cats are safely returned to the outdoor location they call home, where they can continue living without producing future litters.

FCARL works alongside dedicated caregivers and volunteers throughout Floyd County to stabilize community cat colonies, reduce nuisance behaviors associated with breeding, and improve the overall welfare of outdoor cats.
